At the moment Spark relies on the mail rules which were created on the server of your email account. There is no way to create or manage them via Spark.
However, we understand that this feature can be useful for many users and have it in our wishlist for further improvements. You can vote for this feature, so that our team will surely let you know if mail rules are supported in Spark.
As a workaround, you can set up rules on the server and these settings will be synchronized to Spark. Here is the list of the most popular email services and instructions on how to set up the rules:
Gmail https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6579?hl=en
iCloud https://support.apple.com/kb/ph2650?locale=en_US

Spark doesn’t backup emails. Therefore, emails cannot be stored locally: all the emails are located on the IMAP server and Spark provides you with access to it.
Meanwhile, Spark caches emails and attachments over the past month when connected to Wi-Fi, so that you can later look through your Inbox even offline. Cached emails can’t be saved locally as well, which means you can’t open them in a separate file, or you won’t be able to move/copy them while you don’t have access to the server.
Note: Your device should be connected to the Internet in order to take account. While offline, you can read cached emails only.
To reveal the list of accounts connected to Spark and work with them separately, click on the grey arrow on the left side of the INBOX on the sidebar. Click on an individual account under 'Inbox' to see Inbox only of this account.

The built-in calendar in Spark works only with the following calendars:

For example, if you want to use your Google calendar, please add to Spark the Gmail account to which this calendar belongs.
For other accounts such as Yahoo, Outlook or custom IMAP, the option to enable calendars in the settings will be greyed out.

Spark groups messages in threads based on the email subject. Most actions you perform on emails in your inbox (e.g. pin, snooze, archive, delete, etc.) affect the whole thread. Meanwhile, you can delete a specific email in a thread.

2. Click More on the needed email.
3. Select Delete.

3. Select Delete.
You can share a single email by creating a link. This option is great when you want to show one message, without sharing the entire thread.

- Select Create Link. Now the link is copied to clipboard. You can also access the link by clicking the shared email.

- Select Create Link. Now the link is copied to clipboard. You can also access the link by tapping the shared email.
Currently, the email order in Threads cannot be changed. To be on the same page, let us explain why and how it works this way.
Your emails are grouped in threads based on the email subject. Spark displays the latest emails at the bottom of the thread, and the oldest messages are located at the top. However, when you open a thread, new messages are displayed first- you don't need to scroll.
There is no way to change the order of the emails in the threads due to the specific design we intend to keep in Spark.
If we change the email order now, such crucial features of Spark as private team comments and shared threads will stop functioning properly.
If it’s crucial to change the email order for your workflow, please share your feedback with us. Our developers will review your comments if considering the improvement to change the email order in threads.
Currently, Threads cannot be disabled because Spark’s unique features are based on the thread view.
We’re not planning to add the option to disable threads because such crucial features of Spark as private team comments and shared threads will stop functioning properly.
However, if your workflow relies on individual emails rather than threads, please share your feedback. Our developers will review your comments if considering the improvement to disable the email threads.

There are three types of notifications in Spark:
All — get a notification for every incoming message.
Smart — mutes strangers and automated emails. People you reply to are considered important, and Spark notifies you about their emails.
No Notifications — you don’t receive any notifications.
Spark allows you to choose different notification types for different email accounts, learn how to do it here: https://support.readdle.com/spark/getting-started/customize-notifications?from_search=51068759

Always use Dark theme means Spark always has the darkened interface enabled, even if your Mac uses the default Light theme.> General.
Always use Light theme makes Spark always use the Light theme, even if you enable the Dark Theme on your Mac via System Preferences.
Note: The Dark Mode doesn’t affect HTML emails as newsletters; they are displayed as usual.
- Tap the menu icon at the top left.
- Open Settings > Personalization > Appearance.

To change the system-wide font size, go to your iPhone or iPad Settings > Display and Brightness > Text Size. Spark will fetch the settings and adjust automatically.
To do it on Android, go Settings> Accessibility > Font size.
Note: Currently, this is not an option for macOS devices. As a workaround let us share these steps: Go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom > enable 'Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom' > add CMD as a modifier key.
Spark for Mac and iOS allows you to select the font and font-size while composing an email.
To change the email font, please make sure you have Spark version 2.3.4 or newer. If the app hasn’t updated automatically, open the App Store > Updates, find Spark and select Update.
Note: Spark for Android currently doesn’t support font editing, but we’ll add this feature in the future.
- In the email composer, click on the Text Style icon at the bottom right.
- Select the text and choose the font and font size on the toolbar. Spark remembers your choice for all future emails. The selected font and font size become the default until you change them.
If you want to remove formatting, select the text and click on the Remove style icon on the toolbar. By default, Spark uses San Francisco, 14 in the email composer.
- In the email composer, tap the Text Style icon at the bottom.
- Select the text and tap .
- Choose the desired font and font size. Spark remembers your choice for all future emails. The selected font and font size become default until you change them.
To remove formatting, select the text, scroll the toolbar to the right, and tap the Remove Style icon . By default, Spark uses SF Pro Text, 16 in the email composer.
Spark also allows you to change the text and highlight color as well as create lists and indents. Learn more about rich text formatting options.
The advanced settings for an email account you added manually can be changed on the web page of your email server. Please note: this is not an option in Spark.
If you have changed the advanced settings and there are issues with this account in Spark, please remove the account from Spark and add it again with new server settings.

Apple requires third-party apps (like Spark) to use app-specific passwords with iCloud accounts. An app-specific password is a single-use password you generate on the Apple ID webpage and paste into the password field to log into Spark.
To generate an app-specific password, make sure you have two-factor authentication enabled:
1. Open System Preferences on your Mac.
2. Go to iCloud > Account Details.

Make sure if your email server:
1) supports IMAP or EWS protocol. Spark works only with IMAP or EWS accounts and doesn’t support POP3 protocol.
2) supports a secure connection — Spark allows only SSL or STARTTLS protection.
3) successfully performs SMTP authorization — Spark doesn’t set up an account when either the incoming or outgoing connection fails the authentication test.

For non-Gmail accounts, Spark searches in Inbox and Archive by default. To look for emails in another folder, please specify its name in your search query. It can be a standard folder like Drafts or a custom folder you created.
Type “in” and the folder name in the search field and enter a word or phrase you’re looking for. For example, “partnership in sent.”

To delete a wrong contact suggestion while composing an email in Spark for Mac, tap the cross icon near this email address.
In Spark for iOS, swipe a contact suggestion from right to left and tap Delete.
Spark for Android currently doesn’t support editing or deleting the autofill suggestions, but we’ll add this feature soon. Now, you can use a workaround to exclude irrelevant emails from contact suggestions.
Delete all emails from (or sent to) the contact you’d like to remove:
- Tap the search icon at the top right.
- Type “from” or “to” and enter the email address you want to delete from contact suggestions.
- Long tap any email in the search results.
- Tap Select All at the bottom.
- Choose at the top toolbar. If there’s no such option, tap the More icon at the top right and select Delete.
Now, resync the address book to make Spark update the autofill suggestions:
- Tap the menu icon at the top left.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Support > Resync Address Book.
- In a pop-up message, tap Resync.
