    Create an event

    October 1st, 2020

You can quickly schedule a new event in Spark’s built-in calendar. Spark sync an event you create with your Google, Exchange, or iCloud calendar. For example, when you add a new calendar event with your Gmail account, it appears in the Google calendar across all your devices.

    Add a new event

    Mac OSiOS
    1. Open the Calendar section on the sidebar.
    2. Click on the plus icon at the top left.
    3. Type a short event description and press Enter. Spark understands natural language; you can type, “meeting Monday 7 pm,” and it will schedule the right time.
    4. The new event is created in your default calendar. To change the calendar for this event, click on the calendar name at the top and choose the one you need.
    1. Now, you can edit event details: Change its name, time, and date. If you want to create an all-day event, tick All Day.
    2. Under Alert, select when to receive a notification about this event. To add multiple notifications, hover the cursor over the Alert field and click on the plus icon. You can set up to five alerts for one event.
    3. To invite a person to this event, click on the Add Attendee field. Start typing a name or email and select a person from the list.
    4. If you want to add a call to this event, click Add Conference Call. Spark supports Zoom, GoToMeeting, and Google Hangouts. Note: The Google Hangouts option is available only when you create an event in the Google calendar. Learn more about the third-party integrations in Spark.
    5. You can add an event location by typing its name in the Add Location field.
    6. Click Add Notes to add an event description.
    7. When you’re finished, click Create.

There is an alternative way to create a calendar event. In Spark calendar, right-click on a day or hour when you want to create an event and select New Event. Then, you can edit an event as described above.

    1. Launch Spark and tap   at the bottom right of the screen.
    2. Select the Calendar widget  .

Note: If there is no such widget, you can add it via Settings > Personalization > Widgets.

    1. Select the blue plus icon at the bottom right.
    2. Type an event description. Spark understands natural language; you can type, “meeting Friday 3,” and it will schedule the right time.

Note: You can quickly add an attendee. In the event description, start typing “with [person’s name]” and select an email from Spark suggestions.

    1. Tap Done.
    2. Now, you can edit the event details. Tap the name, time, or alert options to change them.
    3. To change the calendar for this event, tap on your email address or calendar name and choose the one you need.
    1. You can select additional options for this event:
      • Location — add a place to hold this event.
      •  Repeat — make a recurring event. To learn more about these types of events, see the “Create a recurring event” section in this article.
      •  Invite — add an attendee to this event. Start typing a name or email and select a person from the list.
      •  Add Call — create a link to a conference call using one of the services: Zoom, GoToMeeting, or Google Hangouts. Note: The Google Hangouts option is available only when you create an event in the Google calendar. Learn more about the third-party integrations in Spark
      •  Add a Note — write an event description.
    2. After editing an event, tap Save.

    Create a recurring event

Spark allows you to schedule events that automatically repeat on certain days. If you go to the gym every Monday and Wednesday, you can create a recurring event, and Spark will remind you about your workouts.

The recurring events are very flexible and you can customize them as you wish. For example, Spark can repeat an event every first Monday of the month till the end of the year, every three weeks on Fridays, etc.

    Mac OSiOS
    1. Open the Calendar section on the sidebar.
    2. Click on the plus icon at the top left.
    3. Type a short event description.
    4. Fill out the event name and select its time and date.
    5. Click Repeat and choose the event frequency. You can repeat an event every day, week, month, or year.
    6. For advanced settings, click Custom. Select the event frequency (daily, weekly, etc.) and choose when to repeat an event. For example, when you select Weekly at the top, Spark allows you to choose the specific days of the week for this event.
    1. Under Ends, select when this recurring event should end. There are three options: An event can be never ending or end after a certain date or number of times.
    1. Click Create to save this event.
    1. Launch Spark and tap   at the bottom right of the screen.
    2. Select the Calendar widget  .
    3. Select the blue plus sign at the bottom right.
    4. Write an event name or description and tap Done.
    5. Select the event time.
    6. Tap Repeat to make a recurring event.
    7. Tick the event frequency. You can repeat an event every day, week, month, or year.
    8. Tap Custom to access advanced settings.
    9. Under Repeat every, select how often to repeat an event (e.g. every two days or every week).
    10. Depending on the selected option (day, week, month, or year), you can choose additional settings. For example, if you decide to repeat an event weekly, you can select the specific days of the week for this event.
    11. After adjusting the settings, tap Done.
    12. Tick one of the options at the bottom to decide when your recurring event should end and tap Done. An event can be never ending or end after a certain date or a certain number of times.
    13. Tap Save at the top right to add this event to your calendar.
